I have some very exciting news! I started an essential oil course in September and have been working my way through and I finished this weekend! It was so fulfilling to actually finish the course. I began talking about taking some herbal classes last spring and planned on starting one last summer. Well things got a little busy and crazy so I never got to start, but then an opportunity came up for me to take an essential oil class for free! Y’all these classes aren’t cheap so I jumped on that boat and signed up immediately.
I had actually been wanting to focus more on herbalism instead of essential oils, but it seemed like everywhere I turned, that was the buzz. Don’t get me wrong, I do have and use them often, and am always up for learning more about them. And I really wanted to learn the scientific evidence on them-not just learn what a company sells or pushes.
This class was really VERY thorough. The online school I attended is Vintage Remedies and I like their approach. They focus on what we have scientific and research evidence to prove about herbs and oils-both beneficial and adverse. This is a great perspective and arms you with the ability to back up your views with science and not just antidotal evidence or tradition. (Not that I don’t think that there is some truth to those too, but it’s not the best way to show others the abilities of natural medicine.)
Now that I’ve completed that course-here’s the proof (oh ain’t it purty!)
I plan on taking another course, but hope to focus more on herbal medicine this time. But I think I’ll wait until after the holidays. 🙂 I don’t know about you, but life has been so busy! Usually come September, things start slowing down and stay relatively relaxed until November, but not this year. That’s another reason why I’m so glad to have finished. One more thing I can check off my list!
Now to focus on what’s ahead. I will begin sharing some of the things I’ve learned in my classes. Things like sweet orange essential oil is safe to take internally when used in culinary preparations (it’s safe other ways too) and it can even benefit the beneficial flora in your gut. How cool is that!
Another upcoming event that I’m looking forward to is the Cultivating the Lovely Podcast. It launches Thursday! I was able to get a sneak peak at the first podcast and it was so good! Very encouraging and so many great tips-you may want to keep a pen and paper handy while listening. There is some great information on organization-boy can’t we all use a little more of that as mamas? So click on the picture and sign up so you can get download and listen Thursday.
And check out my periscope page. I have posted all the links to the previous scopes there.
Can you tell I’ve been busy-Money-Making Mom Book launch, Cultivating the Lovely Podcast Launch, my 2 Periscope shows launched, and posting it all on here for you to know about. Whew! I think I’m ready for bed.
Happy Herbing It Up!
