If you’ve been on social media lately and follow me, then you’ve been hard pressed not to see me posting about Cultivating the Lovely. But if you still haven’t checked it out, I want to give you the push you need.
I found out about MacKenzie Monroe aka Boldturquoise while watching a scope by the MoneySavingMom Crystal Paine-the Cultivating the Lovely show was one of the four shows she recommended watching. So like the studious newbie to Periscope I was, I jotted down her list and checked them out. And I have to admit, Cultivating the Lovely is the only one I consistently watch. Not that I don’t catch some other scopes, because I do have several that I enjoy.
So after checking out Cultivating the Lovely on periscope, I went to Boldturquoise and checked MacKenzie out. Now most people I meet (even online) I usually have to warm up to them. You know, really make sure they’re solid. But something about MacKenzie just really pulled me in. Maybe it was when I realized she was crunchy too while watching her scope on homemade laundry detergent 🙂 (I really know it was God.) Well, I heard about this podcast she was launching and decided I didn’t have enough to do right then (I mean wife, mama, homeschool, blog-piece of cake, right) and joined her launch team.
A few details and weeks later and I can’t even begin to count the blessings God has poured into my life since that decision. I have met some amazing ladies online. The sense of community that has been built around the Cultivating the Lovely periscope and now the podcast is truly amazing. I hope to one day get to really hang out with some of them in real life. Women who love the Lord and want that love to shine in their love for their husbands, children, family and friends and who encourage and build one another up are what this community is all about.
God has such perfect timing. As all this was taking shape, in my own personal Bible study I was finishing studying the book of James and was praying about what to do next. And it just so happened (yes God just planned it) that MacKenzie was also launching a free Bible study. Isn’t it wonderful how God works! It is a great study on the book of Philippians focusing on thankfulness-very appropriate for November, don’t you think? And one of those ladies and I have become study buddies and are sharing each day what God is showing us in Scripture. What a blessing!
As if the Bible study and periscope community aren’t blessings enough, now there is a podcast! Since I was on the launch team, I got a sneak peak at the first 2 episodes and they are wonderful. MacKenzie has done such an awesome job at putting these together. Ya know, not everyone has that “radio voice” that is just easy to listen to, but MacKenzie will draw you in with her clear, sweet voice and keep you entertained with her fun personality.
But what’s even more is the great line-up of ladies she is interviewing in each podcast. The first interview with Mystie Winkler is jam packed with organizational tips. Not just the how-to of organizing, but also the why. She gives such great motivation for making the mundane, lovely. Oh how we as moms need that. And all that is just in the first interview! If you aren’t getting excited and fired up then I think your wood is wet!
Can you tell that God has been pouring into me lately? I feel like He has given me a whole new bunch of friends. I have gleaned wisdom, motivation and encouragement from just these first couple of podcast. I can’t wait to see what else He has to show me. Join me and all the other wonderful Cultivating the Lovely community and subscribe here to the podcast today! Then be careful because you just might be cultivating loveliness in the lives around you.
Happy Cultivating!
