Have you ever been stuck in a rut? You had a vision (or maybe you still have that vision), but you just don’t know how to attain it? Maybe you even started down a path that was sure to lead to your vision, but then something happened, life happened! Well, I just described myself, but maybe some of you can relate too.
It was almost a year ago when I decided to bite the bullet and start this blog. It was a decision that had been several years and much prayer in the making. It was a bold decision, but it was an exciting decision. I had dreams, a vision, and somewhat of a plan. I began researching and learning. It was fun, tiring, and sometimes very frustrating, but it felt right and it felt good to take action!
Then somewhere along the way, life, kids, homeschool, family happened. And I began to wonder if I had made the right decision. I knew that
anything worth having is worth the effort to achieve it.
But I began to wonder if maybe I had missed God’s leading or if I just wasn’t supposed to have a home based business. Maybe my motivations were wrong. (Tell me you’ve struggled with those same doubts and fears! That I’m not alone.)
So I decided to really pray and search over the direction of this blog-my would be business. And God began speaking. Things began lining up. Not huge things, but little pieces of encouragement. Those little whispers God uses to nudge us on to the place He wants us, so He can use us to get glory.
One of those little whispers was Crystal Paine’s new book Money-Making Mom. It is so incredible! Not only did it encourage me to get back in the struggle-and yes any business venture (or life venture for that) will be a struggle at times- but to stay the course. And it helped me remember to stay focused on my why-being able to help others!
Money-Making Mom gives such practical advice for real life people and situations. And it doesn’t have to be a blog or even an online venture. It is chocked full with examples of real moms who have used their passions, skills and knowledge to gain financial independence, better the life of their family and be available to give financially to ministries or those in need. How freeing!
But one thing that I was not expecting when I read this book was the conversations my husband and I began having. Like most couples, we often talked about finances, future, retirement, etc. But as I began reading Money Making Mom, I would share insights with my hubby and I could see some of that entrepreneurial spirit coming back into him.
Reading over some of the chapters was a good reminder of why we should think outside the box when it comes to finances-especially in this day and time. But for us that spirit and vision got squashed by life and all the responsibilities life brings. It is now so exciting to renew some of our dreams we once had. To talk about things like passive income (read the book to find out what that is). And to have a guide book for the journey is just icing on the cake!
So what is your vision? Do you have a desire to start your own business so you can help others? Are you tired of living paycheck to paycheck barely surviving? Do you want to be a mover and shaker? Great post. 🙂 I love the book.
Thanks Keelie! Yes it is so good!
Just getting started…again. Life. God’s plans though. He needed to unload my hands so that I could fully accept what He has for me next.
But sometimes that old, familiar keeps its talons dug in. My book arrives soon. I’m excited. I’m prepping for it.
Good luck! Cheering you on!
Yes, so true! We definitely have to allow God to lead us and accept His will and timing. Just keep staying the course. Excited for you to read the book! And thanks for the cheers-we all need them!
Hello! You are not alone!! I’m struggling right now. My blog is about 7 months old and I’m just all over the place. I’ve never felt so lost in my life. I’m waiting for Crystal’s book. Hope it helps. Thanks for sharing this. I’m glad I’m not alone! 😉
Kristine,
Her book is so good because it shows her struggles and really helps you to get a direction. I’m sure it will help encourage you knowing she had the same struggles as we do and that perseverance does pay off! Praying God will lead you in your journey and reveal His path to you. And YES you are NOT alone!
