It’s hard to believe this year is almost over. It seems that yesterday we were just finishing up last year’s holidays. But with Black Friday almost here, it’s high time to be finalizing that wish list. And just in case you’re like me and haven’t gotten all your ducks in a row, I’ve come up with a list of things that should be on every natural girl’s Christmas wish list.
From the newly crunchy gal to the granola eating, hippy mama these items are things that will renew, educate, or just pamper your natural soul. And these are all items I’ve either already tried and loved or they are on my wish list this year.
#7 on the Natural Girl’s Christmas Wish List:
Cookware! But not just any cookware-cast iron cookware. Oh I love it! It’s durable, ever so functional and non-toxic. There are two types of cast iron cookware-the basic non-coated cast iron and the enamel coated cast iron. I own both and wonder how I ever cooked without them. If you don’t have them, here’s what I own and recommend to go on your natural girl’s Christmas wish list.
Basic non-coated cast iron–
Here is the basic 10.5 in skillet. Non-stick, easy to clean and so functional. Biscuits have never tasted as good as when cooked in this! It’s a must for the natural girl.
Another great basic cast iron piece is the griddle. Pancakes tastes so great cooked on here and they don’t stick! Again, super easy to clean and functional.
Next up is the enamel coated cast iron. These pieces are not only functional, but they’re also pretty! I received this big ‘ole pot last year and have used it so much since then. Chilis and stews, broth, roasts, even bread can be cooked up in this. And it’s big enough for the whole family plus leftovers! Definitely worth the investment and should be on the natural girl’s Christmas list.
#6 on the natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
Beautiful Lilla Rose Hair Accessories-These hair clips, sticks, and headbands are amazing! I haven’t found very many thing (ok so rarely do I find anything) that will hold my thick yet fine and smooth hair. But these do! And they are gorgeous. So fun! So pretty! They make a ponytail go from boring to bling! And they are well made so they will last! A great, fun item that I’m looking forward to collecting more of.
#5 on the natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
Essential oils! What’s a natural girl’s Christmas wish list without essential oils. Although I use oils al the time, I don’t recommend diffusing oils all over your house. But…there is something about this time of year and the smells of this season. Pumpkin, cinnamon, apples, evergreen trees, and all the goodies baking. If your like me and want your house to smell, well, like the holidays, then toss out the candles and opt for the essential oils. Not only will your house smell scrumptious, you’ll also be killing germs in the air and helping to avoid cold and flus.
There are so many oil brands out there and many are reputable. Currently I’m loving doTerra oils. After much research, they are my first choice in oils. Another option that I like is Plant Therapy. And regardless of what brand you choose, here’s a couple blends that I love this time of year.
#4 on every natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
Makeup! I have this love hate relationship with makeup. Because we live in the South where the humidity is about 120% three of the four season of the year, I don’t like wearing makeup. I have oily skin, and when you add the humidity to that, my makeup just slides off my face after about thirty minutes. Because of this, most of the year, I don’t wear much makeup. But I have really small eyes with blonde eyelashes so I feel like I need some makeup. And when cooler weather and lower humidity comes during fall and winter, I’m ready to look pretty. There are usually so many parties and events to attend that adds to my desire to get all gussied up.
Finding makeup that is all natural and non-toxic yet still looks great and is long lasting is sometimes hard. But I’ve found a couple of great options that are on this natural girl’s Christmas wish list.
100PercentPure-I’ve used this brand for a few years now and I really like what I’ve tried. Made with natural ingredients and tinted with fruit, many of their items even smell yummy. They always have some great sales this time of year too! You gotta love a good sale.
Lemongrass Spa-This is a company I have recently been introduced to through a friend, and I’m liking what I’ve seen. Truly all natural and they have quite a lot of color options-which is always good. I’ve got a few of their items on my natural girl’s Christmas with list. Check out their mascara-it’s amazing!
#3 on every natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
The Diastasis Boot Camp– I went through this boot camp and was amazed at how good it was. I knew after having kiddos that I had Diastasis Recti and had started a few programs in the past. It wasn’t until I joined this boot camp and had the accountability of other ladies doing it with me that I actually finished the class. My core was strengthened, my tummy is flat, and I felt so much better about myself. My kiddos even joined in. Having a strong core is essential no matter what age or stage of life your in and it directly affects so much of your health-like the fact that my back and neck are stronger too! A definite must on the natural girl’s list.
#2 on every natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
The Instant Pot! Yes, this is on my list. It’s an investment for sure, but I’ve heard so many raving reviews about this little jewel that it’s at the top of my list. If you haven’t heard of it, let me just tell you what all this baby can do. It’s a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, rice cooker. It browns meat, makes yogurt, steams and keeps things warm. It’s an all in one pot and makes cooking healthy easy and quick. No wonder it’s at the top of this natural girl’s Christmas wish list.
#1 on every natural girl’s Christmas wish list:
Education! We know the more we dig into natural living, the more we find there is to know and the more we want to know. No matter how experienced and educated you are, keep learning! Now there is a plethora of courses and online classes you can take, but here are some that I highly recommend.
My Essential Oils 101 Course -(Yes, shameless plug here, but I have it on sale from Thanksgiving until Cyber Monday. Use code BLACKFRI2016 for 50% off! It’s a great place to learn some basic information on five common oils, get the research behind why we know the properties of the oils and some safety precautions when using oils. And it’s unbranded information that applies to all pure, quality oils.)
Vintage Remedies Classes-I have taken several classes from here and can attest to the high level of quality education received. They delve into herbs and oils so it’s a great place to learn regardless of which direction you want to go in. I’ve got a couple of their classes on my natural girl’s Christmas wish list right now.
The Eat Dirt Book-Let’s not forget how much education you can get from reading-plus it’s cheap and sometimes free! I got my copy of this book this summer, but didn’t get to dive into it until fall. But I’ve enjoyed it so much-it’s packed with great info for the newbie who is trying to go more natural, but there’s still a ton of in-depth info for the veteran crunchy mama. And because our guts affect EVERYTHING, I highly recommend this book.
Well, there you have it. My top seven items that I have added to my Christmas list or I’ve had on previous Christmas lists. These are items that are sure to indulge you and carry you into the new year ready to be even more natural and crunchy.
What items are on your list that I didn’t mention? Maybe items you’ve gotten in the past that you can’t live without as a natural girl. Share them with us so we can go more natural and healthy too.
Until next time,
