Oh how good a fresh salad can taste! It’s light and refreshing and a great way to get your greens. It’s also healthy, until… until we smother it with dressing that’s loaded with high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and preservatives. Wow, that healthy salad doesn’t sound so healthy anymore does it? But it doesn’t have to be that way. When you make your own salad dressing, you open up a world of flavor and even add more health and digestability to that salad.
But why stop at salads? Ranch dressing can be so versatile. Use it as a dip for veggies, try it on a baked potato, and it’s even good as a pretzel dip! I’m sure you could even come up with more ideas for it, so no more waiting.
- 1/2 cup sour cream or creme fraishe
- 1/2 cup kefir
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp parsley
- 1/2 tsp dill weed
- Mix all ingredients in glass jar and chill. Will keep several weeks in refrigerator.
For a thinner consistency that is easier to pour, use more kefir and less sour cream. For a thicker consistency, use more sour cream and less kefir.
This recipe is loaded with cultured goodness, giving you another way to get probiotics into your diet. And the combination of garlic and onion are a powerhouse for your immune system. So go ahead, pour it or dip it and enjoy the goodness. Then share your favorite recipe with ranch dressing!
